Green Mountain Energy
Green Mountain Energy is a 100% renewable energy company who’s markets are growing day by day. To celebrate this, and share their mission of renewable energy, they created a campaign featuring solar and wind power literally out in the field and how it translates to people’s lives. We were tasked to create a “bigature” - a big miniature landscape. Their ads would feature an animated firefly to lead the viewer through the landscape and their interior scenes. They needed a landscape that worked both in close-ups and also accommodated long pans and zooming in and out. We created one 23’ long rolling landscape with areas at both ends suitable for close-ups.
Carved from foam, layered with paper pulp and chopped foam grass on top, it was a versatile series of small hills and valleys. Specific areas of trees and grasses could be applied and moved around to accommodate a wide variety of camera angles. Two large mountains, replicating the company’s logo, were separate and moved along the back edge of the scene.
Created in our studio in three sections, we delivered it to set and put the pieces together to form one long landscape.
