COPPERS

Working with collaborators Joe Sabia and Vincent Peone, we designed and built five small sets for a web short for the BBC America series, Coppers. We recreated our version of the Little Five Points area of Manhattan circa 1863: a bar interior, an alley, a room interior featuring draft wheel, a street scene featuring burnt out mansions, and a large set of the convergence of streets creating the ‘Five Points’.

All of the buildings and sets were scratch built over approximately a month. Due to the short turnaround, most of the buildings multi-tasked with different facades on each side. For instance the dingy, depressed residential buildings facing the alley had newer, commercial fronts on the other side. All of the pieces were moveable to allow for maximum flexibility on set.
