We designed and constructed six detailed dioramas—complete with props and miniature figures—for Erin Lee Carr’s HBO documentary Undercurrent, which investigates the murder of journalist Kim Wall. The dioramas, including a submarine interior, a courtroom, and four apartment interiors, were built to represent spaces that were inaccessible to the film crew.

Each environment was crafted at approximately 1:10 scale, using extensive reference photographs and video footage to ensure accuracy and realism.

Miniature portraits of the principal figures were first sculpted by hand, then scanned in 360 degrees, digitally scaled, and 3D printed. The printed heads were attached to digitally modeled bodies and meticulously painted to match the likenesses of the real individuals—bringing an eerie realism and intimacy to these reconstructed scenes.
