Lyme Life Movie

We created two miniature sets for the feature film Lymelife, both representing a classic American suburb modeled after Levittown—known for its uniform, cookie-cutter houses. The first was a tabletop-scale model designed as a prop to appear in the film, while the second was a larger, more detailed version used in the opening credits and as a visual transition between scenes. Each required a different scale and level of detail to serve its unique purpose.

For the tabletop prop, the filmmakers provided a list of specific neighborhood elements to include: a school, a community swimming pool with surrounding fence, telephone poles, and other recognizable features referenced throughout the film. The model belonged to a character who was a realtor, displayed prominently in his office as a marketing tool.

The larger set expanded on one of the streets from the model, with detailed houses lining both sides. To add life and narrative depth, the filmmakers requested miniature figures engaged in everyday suburban scenes: neighbors chatting over fences and at a backyard barbecue, a couple talking on the front steps, a man hanging Christmas lights, and a child waiting for the school bus. The model was designed with a removable half-street section, allowing the camera to pan smoothly along the row of houses during filming.
