Wired Magazine

At the height of the Harry Potter craze, just before the final book was too be released, we created a photo for Wired Magazine for a story about the end of the series. It was a pretty straight forward assignment, just a few figures atop a the book, surrounding what appears to be an open grave carved into the book itself. Sometimes the most simple things are the most tricky.

There were many ways to show the emotion that this book was creating among it’s fans. But it was a fine line between suggesting a dark mood and being in bad taste. We worked this out with the magazine through many rounds of hand drawn sketches.

The sketches we offer clients are more like a blow up of a single storyboard panel. We find it easiest and most effective way to relay our ideas to the client. Often a description of the action or lighting is written with the sketch.
